Gin Rummy Game: Fun for Everybody

The gin rummy game is popular among people of all ages. But before one joins the worldwide craze it is essential to learn gin rummy rules and gin rummy strategy. In the gin rummy game each player is dealt ten cards. The remaining cards form the stock pile, with one card turned face up to start the discard pile.

Gin rummy rules require the players to match all their cards in sequences or groups. A sequence consists of consecutive cards of the same suit, whereas a group consists of cards of the same rank. The gin rummy game has two moves. The first is the draw. According to gin rummy rules the player can draw the top card from the stock pile or the discard pile. The second move is discarding one card from the hand to the discard pile. Gin rummy strategy suggests that the player should discard that card which is least likely to be of use in creating sequences or groups.

The gin rummy game ends by knocking off or placing one card face down on the discard pile. If a player goes gin, that is he has no unmatched cards left, he has to knock off. Gin rummy rules allow a player to knock off if his unmatched cards total less than ten points. The gin rummy strategy here is to prevent other players from matching high point cards. The scoring is then done according to the gin rummy rules.
